Holiday Craft Events

So....I opened up the new metromix today and they have a holiday craft fair section that is really exciting. A few of the events take place when I will be in Seattle, but if anyone has time I think it would be a good idea to go to these events and maybe talk to some vendors and crafters about our space. I know some of the girls who work at Ghettogloss...they are having a craft fair in Silverlake every weekend through January!!!!!!!!! I'll go tell them about us for sure. <3 <3 <3
Let me know if you have any thoughts. I could do some U.C.C guerilla crafting on the east side!!!

Silverlake Holiday Craft Fair
2450 Glendale Blvd. , Los Angeles
323-912-0008
Sundays and Saturdays : 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (ends December 21)
Nov. 15 to Dec. 21 on Saturdays and Sundays: Get revved up for the gift-giving season with the Ghettogloss-sponsored Silverlake Craft Fair. From vintage clothing to handmade arty collectibles, pet couture and tarot readings, there's more than enough to fill two whole days every weekend through Dec. 21.

Bust Magazine's Holiday Craftacular
Echoplex - The Echo 1154 Glendale Blvd. Los Angeles
Neighborhood: Echo Park
December 6 : 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Dec. 6: Bust magazine hosts a whole day's worth of crafting at the Echoplex, with over 50 booths and plenty of DJs, drinks and dancing to keep you warm during a chilly (for L.A.) December day. In past years, you’d have to fly to New York to get in on the Bust's craftacular action, so count your blessings that there’s one in sunny Los Angeles, allowing you to spend more cash on items of cuteness instead of airfare.

West Hollywood Craft Fair
7377 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles
December 6 : 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Dec. 6: Because you can't spend all your loot at Bed Bath & Beyond, head to Plummer Park in WeHo for an array of handmade goodness from local artists. Not only will it spare your relatives from getting another item hauled from the bowels of the mall, but you’ll know your holiday spending budget is going directly into the hands of wacky crafters and hard-working artisans. Plus, it’s in WeHo, so you know that action will be fierce.

Conscious Holiday Gift Show
5711 West Century Blvd. , Los Angeles
831-706-4336
December 6 : 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Dec. 6-7: Bust out the Birkenstocks and head down to the Conscious Life Gift Expo, where you'll find yourself awash in a tranquil sea of holistic holiday items including organic clothes and eco-friendly household knickknacks. Try out a fair trade gift basket, or take a moment to consider more yoga and fitness paraphernalia than you can shake a sustainably grown stick at.

Christmas Handmade Arts & Crafts Boutique
5151 State University Dr., Los Angeles
December 7 : 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Dec. 7: While Downtown L.A. is full of bargain shops, sometimes a poorly constructed Fendi knockoff just doesn’t make a good holiday gift. Head to the first annual Christmas Handmade Arts and Crafts Boutique and gaze upon a bevy of adorable goodies like hand-poured soaps, aromatherapuetic candles, one-of-a kind jewelry, pottery and art. And of course, if you have money leftover, go for the fake Fendi a few blocks away.

Unique Los Angeles
California Market Center - 110 East Ninth St. Los Angeles
Neighborhood: Downtown
December 13 : 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Dec. 13-14: You've got two full days to sift through all the delightful craftiness of Unique Los Angeles. Thanks to more than 150 different arts vendors and plenty of buzz around, the outlook is rosy that you'll find something suitable for even the most esoteric family member or significant other. As the Unique website boasts: “Whether you’re a hipster, a soccer mom or a ‘tween, there truly is something for everyone!” Um…We guess that makes us hipsters?

Price...Less 2 - group show
The Hive Gallery and Studios - 729 S. Spring Street Los Angeles
Neighborhood: Downtown
Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays : (December 6 through December 30)
Objets d'art priced to move

PASS THE PIGLETS!

Angarad wanted me to pass this idea on to everyone. I used to play this game myself...because I was slightly addicted to pigs as a kid...more than slightly...I went to pig races...a lot.

BUST Holiday Craftacular

Bust Magazine is having their 2008 Holiday Craftacular on Saturday December 6th at the Echoplex. I was curious if this was something anyone had considered participating in.
As far as I know, they are still looking for venders and the last day to apply is November 25th.

This is another great opportunity for us to get involved with the younger craft community. I've been noticing that very few people under 30 are coming into the store and I think that although these events are not as huge as Felt Club, the 17-29 demographic is equally important to the values of encouraging all people to create and craft, regardless of technical ability or knowledge of the existing craft world.

Please comment on the blog so I know you are reading these! :-)

The Little Knittery

Has anyone been to this store?
Turns out there are a lot of musicians I know who are also crafters!!!!!
This girl from a band called the Pity Party has a little knitting store in Atwater Village. She has knitting classes and they are definitely another friend in the community.

which reminds me.....is it alright if I set up a myspace page for us if we don't already have one? Have you guys heard of myspace, its this new thing for social interaction. I think it might catch on and even become a trend ;-)

Congratulations everyone on the soft open! I'm really so excited to be a part of this place, as I know we all are.
